Malipayon Pasko sa Pagkabanhaw!
(Man, it’s such a mouthful to say ‘Happy Easter’ in another language!)
MISC: 1. Last week S. Langi and I experienced a huge fire in one of the poorest parts of our area. We had been at our investigator’s house not too long when people everywhere started running and shouting ‘sunog! sunog!’ which means ‘fire!’. Sure enough, we look outside and thick black smoke had formed not too far from us. Fires are especially dangerous in this particular area because the wooden “houses” are just compacted on top of each other so a lot of destruction can happen in a matter of seconds. People were crying, grabbing what little possessions they had, others were praying..it was chaos. S. Langi and I ran toward the fire to help people get to safer areas. We helped until eight fire trucks showed up and got the fire under control. 2.There was also a situation during the fire in which I needed to drive a small pick up truck. As I got into the driver’s seat, I realized I didn’t know how to drive a manual. Learning this during an emergency is the worse feeling ever-that someone could potentially lose a life because you lack a certain skill. So long story short, I need someone to teach me how to drive manual when I come home!
CEBUANO: Tungod Kay Siya Buhi means Because He Lives
INSPIRATIONAL: Because of Him video link: http://www.mormon.org/becauseofhim
SPIRITUAL: As a missionary, I am so blessed with the opportunity to testify of the Savior everyday. This week is so sacred. I’ve enjoyed it more than Christmas as I’ve reflected on the events that occured over 2000 years ago. I want to testify to all of you that I know Jesus is the Christ. He is the Savior and Redeemer whom the ancient prophets prophesied would come into the world. He lived and He died and on the third day, He was resurrected. Because of Him, ‘death has no string, the grave no victory and Satan has no lasting power’. Because of Him, I can overcome everything and can have lasting peace and happiness in this life and in the life to come. I look forward to the day in which I will collapse in the arms of my Savior and feel the prints of the nails in His hands and feet and know that He lives and died for me.
His life was a gift to all of us. My invitation for all of us this Easter week to reflect on the question: What gift can I give my Savior?
PICS: Pictures of my area and to show that the stickers being sent to me are being put to a good cause! Also, S. Langi and I made a companionship t-shirt that says “Makugi aron gwapo si dodong” which means “we’re diligent so we’ll have good looking boyfriends”
I love you all! I love being a missionary! Have a great Easter and enjoy all the chocolate and sweets!
